A learning event on the “Implementation of Tinagong Dagat Wetland Management Plan” was successfully conducted by Conservation and Development Section (CDS) held at Haliwood Hotel, Restaurant and Videoke Bar, Odiongan, Romblon on October 20-21, 2017. Participants from Municipal and Barangay LGU’s and other stakeholders in Talisay, Calatrava, Romblon attended this event. A total of 45 participants composed of 17 males and 28 females attended the abovementioned activity.


During the opening program, Vice Mayor Cyril F. Dela Cruz encouraged attendees to ensure the sustainable implementation of Tinagong Dagat Wetland Management Plan in collaboration with empowered key stakeholders in the Municipality of Calatrava, Romblon.


The two-day learning event had resulted in institutionalization of local guides along with tourism officers in the development of ecotourism for wetland of Tinagong Dagat. It also provided necessary skills to selected community volunteers, organizations and other law enforcement agencies to be designated as Wildlife Enforcement Officers (WEO’s), facilitated the conduct of Livelihood Needs Assessment and selection of potential beneficiaries, and discussed gender equity as an imperative to sustainable implementation of the plan.
