By virtue of DENR Reorganization on Sept. 16, 1988 per EO No. 192, CENRO-PUERTO PRINCESA CITY was created with administrative jurisdiction covering the city of Puerto Princesa and the municipalities of Cuyo, Magsaysay, Agutaya, Cagayancillo and Kalayaan Group of Islands.

It was originally housed at the Forest Research Institute in Barangay Sta. Monica. Puerto Princesa City but after years, the office transferred to DANR Building along Fernandez Street, this city.

In 2001, the DANR Building was demolished to give way to the construction of the Provincial Legislative Building. As such, CENRO-PPC transferred to PENRO training hall and garage in Barangay Sta. Monica, Puerto Princesa City.

After seven years (2001-2008), through the efforts of CENRO Diosdado L. Ocampo and PENRO Juan C. Dela Cruz, an initial funding of P 1,073,000.00 was released for the construction of CENR Office followed by P 1,000,000.00 in 2009 and P 3,000,000 in 2010 for the completion of the building respectively.
